Pre-launch · India, Canada and the United States first

Make the pact. Settle with UPI, Interac, Zelle or PIX.

Pennypact keeps one clear record of shared money — who paid, who owes, who's settled — and prepares the payment request in the form your own payment app expects. The money goes straight from you to them.

No bank login. Pennypact never connects to your bank.

Request a payment

The ask goes where the group already is

Nobody wants another notification from another app. So the request lands in the thread you're already in — iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, plain SMS — written, itemized and with the amount in it. You review it and press send.

Written for you to review

Dinner came to $284.00 — you're in for $47.30. Two plates, one wine, tip included. Pay here, no app needed: p.pennypact.com/…
Sent, thanks!

The amount, the breakdown and the link travel together, so nobody has to ask what it was for.

What each button really does

iMessage or SMS
Opens Messages with the person and the text already written. Apple Cash stays inside Messages, so the sender finishes it there.
WhatsApp or Telegram
Same thing, composed and ready. Where a payment app can carry a code, the code rides along in the message.
The link itself
Opens a plain page in any browser. Whoever holds it sees only that one bill and can act only on it, until it expires. No download, no account needed.

Settle up

Three ways money moves. We say which is which.

Every payment app is different. Some carry the amount in a code; most need you to paste it in. We prepare the request the way your app expects, and we're honest about which is which.

Best case · scan and approve

Planned

The amount is inside the code

Some payment apps read a code that carries who gets paid and how much. You scan it in your own app, check the name and the amount, and approve. Nothing to retype.

  • UPI · India
  • Pix · Brazil
  • PayNow · Singapore
  • PromptPay · Thailand
  • SEPA code · Europe

Where a UPI app supports it, a request can open the app with the amount already filled in. You still approve with your PIN.

Common case · copy and paste

Planned

Copy-ready details; you complete the transfer

Most payment apps don't let another app start a payment, so we don't claim otherwise. We hand you the recipient, the amount and a reference as separate copy buttons.

  • Interac e-Transfer · Canada
  • Zelle · United States
  • Bizum · Spain
  • Swish · Sweden
  • Faster Payments · UK

Apple Cash, Venmo and Cash App give no supported way to prepare a payment, so those stay copy-and-paste too.

Later · on-chain, when it's ready

Researching

A transfer the network confirms

One day a stablecoin transfer from a wallet you control could close a settlement by itself, once the network says it's final. We're researching it. It isn't part of the first release.

  • No coin of our own
  • No wallet needed to use Pennypact
  • Never held or bridged by us

Checking records on-chain is a different thing and works from day one. It needs no wallet from you; we pay for publishing.

Where you live

What settling looks like where you live

Payment habits differ by country, and so does what an outside app is allowed to prepare. Pick a country to see the flow, and the honest word next to each payment app: Available, Planned, Researching or Not offered.

India · first wave

UPI, with the amount already in the request

Most people in India pay each other with UPI. A UPI request can carry who gets paid, how much and a note, so nothing has to be retyped.

Pennypact does
Show Mira's UPI ID and the amount as copy-ready fields, and her own UPI code to scan. Where your app supports it, a request that opens with the amount inside.
You do
Open your UPI app, check the name and the amount, approve with your UPI PIN. Then tap "I've sent it".

Split rules

Go on, drag it.

Live · real math

Rent is R$ 3.600,00 in the São Paulo example and Mira fronted it. Move the shares. In a real pact, everyone approves a change before it takes effect.

40% · R$ 1.440,00
35% · R$ 1.260,00
25% · R$ 900,00

A pact always adds up to 100%. Move one share and the other two give way.

Pact kinds

Different kinds of pact, one idea

People agree how it splits, Pennypact keeps the record and prepares the payment request. A shared home, a trip, a loan and a group gift come first; the rest follow as they're ready.

Planned

Rent, bills and the ongoing stuff

The default pact. Rent, utilities, the streaming logins and the weekly shop, on shares everyone agreed, clearing on the day you picked — month after month, without anyone re-entering it.

Planned

The trip

Nine people and no signal on the mountain. Expenses save on your phone and send when you're back; everyone sees one clear balance and pays the person they owe, on the app those two share.

Planned

A loan, on terms

Money lent between friends, with the amount, the rate and the dates written down and approved by both. Equal payments, equal principal, interest-only, or no interest at all. The math is done for you.

Planned

A present from all of us

One person buys it, fourteen people owe a share, and the link goes in the group chat once instead of fourteen awkward messages.

Researching

Paid in before you go

Whoever's booking gets paid directly, in installments if people need them. Pennypact keeps the list: who's paid in, who hasn't, what's due when. No pot sitting anywhere — least of all with us.

Researching

Whose turn it is

For the dinner club and the coffee run, where you don't split anything — you take turns. It remembers whose turn it is, and how far off even you've drifted.

Researching

Moving out

Rent prorated to the day, the last bills split, and a clear note of who put in which part of the deposit. Where most shared homes actually go wrong.

Verified record

Open verification, by default

Every accepted record — an expense, a change to the split rules, a confirmed payment — gets a privacy-blinded on-chain fingerprint, so it can be checked later, not just trusted. You need no wallet and see no gas prompt.

  1. Saved privately

The record is accepted and stored, encrypted, with a privacy-blinded fingerprint.

  2. Published on Base

The fingerprint goes out in a batch we pay for. No names, amounts or descriptions.

  3. Base finalized

The network confirms the batch can't be reordered or dropped.

  4. Checkpointed on Ethereum

Once a day, the day's batches get one durable checkpoint.

Every accepted change, kept

Nothing is ever rewritten. A correction is a new version reached through a change request the group approves; a removal is marked, not erased. Each pact's records link to the one before, so a gap would show.

Check it without Pennypact

Download the record from any pact you're in and check it against the chain with a verifier you run yourself, using whatever network access you choose. It shows the record hasn't changed since it was accepted. It does not show the expense was fair or that the money moved.

A record that can outlive us

Once checkpointed, a record you kept still connects to Base and Ethereum if Pennypact stops existing. Without your private copy, the public fingerprint reveals nothing about what it stands for.

Publishing to Base and Ethereum runs against test networks while we're pre-launch, and the independent verifier is still being packaged for release. Everything else on this page describes what launches.

What we never do

The record, not the money.

Pennypact is a record-keeping and calculation tool. Money moves on services you already use, between you and the people you share with. That isn't a limitation we're working around; it's the design.

  • Never ask for a bank login or an open-banking permission.
  • Never hold, pool, route or move your money.
  • Never take custody of a wallet or a key.
  • Never issue a coin or a token.
  • Never sell, broker or advertise against your spending.
  • Never let a link show more than the one bill it was made for.

Questions

Fair questions

Can it open iMessage and Apple Cash for me?

Half of it, and we'll be precise about which half. Pennypact can open Messages with the recipient and the whole message already written: the amount, the breakdown and the link. Apple Cash stays inside Messages and gives no supported way for another app to prepare a payment, so you finish that part there. Same shape for WhatsApp and Telegram: we write it, you send it.

Do you connect to my bank account?

No. We never ask for bank credentials, statement access or an open-banking permission. There is nothing to connect, so there is nothing to leak.

What can someone do without a full account?

Someone you invite gets a link. With it they can see their share, approve the split rules, open the payment details, mark a payment as sent or confirm one received, and nothing else in the pact. Forwarding the link forwards that same limited access, so treat it like the bill it shows. Guests can't add or change expenses or invite people. They can open a full account whenever they like.

How long do you keep receipt images?

As long as the pact keeps them. Delete a receipt and it is gone after a 15-day undo window. Delete your account and everything of yours, receipts included, is removed after 15 days. Paid plans set how much receipt storage a pact has; the numbers on the Pricing page aren't final until launch.

Can an AI provider train on my receipt?

There is no AI in Pennypact today, so nothing you upload is sent to a model provider. If that ever changes, the privacy notice will name who, where, for how long and how to opt out, before it happens.

So how does the money actually move?

On your own payment app, straight from you to them. We prepare the payment request in the form your app expects: a code with the amount inside where the app supports one, or the recipient, the amount and a reference as copy-ready fields. Pennypact is never in the transfer.

What can't Pennypact do?

It can't send a payment for you; you press send in your own app. It can't see that a transfer landed without one of you saying so. It can't reverse, refund, freeze or recover a payment, because it was never ours to touch. And it can't make anyone pay you.

Then how do you know it was paid?

You tell us. The payer taps "I've sent it", the person receiving taps "Confirm received", and the record shows both. We can't read your bank and don't try to. A request nobody acts on expires after 30 days, with a notice.

Which payment apps work in my country?

India, Canada and the United States come first: UPI, Interac e-Transfer and Zelle, with plain bank transfers alongside. Brazil, much of Europe and twenty-odd other countries are on the research list. The Availability page lists every country and app with an honest word next to it: Available, Planned, Researching or Not offered.

Are you lending me money, or charging interest?

Neither. A loan pact records money lent between two people on terms they both approve, the amount, the rate and the schedule, and does the math. Pennypact never lends, never sets a rate and never takes a cut. Any limits on interest between individuals where you live are yours to follow; we don't give legal or tax advice.

What's the blockchain actually for?

Checking, not paying. Each time a record is accepted, whether an expense, a change to the split rules or a confirmed payment, we save a privacy-blinded fingerprint of it, publish it to Base in a batch we pay for, and once a day checkpoint the day's batches on Ethereum. Anyone in the pact can later download the record and check it against the chain without asking us. Nothing on-chain names a person, an amount or a description, and nobody needs a wallet.

Can an AI agent use this, or pay?

Not today. There is no assistant, agent or automated payer in Pennypact, and no interface for one. If that ever comes, a person will confirm every consequential step, and an agent will never be able to move money, because nothing here can.

What if someone just doesn't pay?

That's between the two of you, and we'd rather be honest than pretend otherwise. What you get is a clear, dated record of what everyone agreed and what's outstanding, so the conversation is about a fact rather than two memories. People who opt in get reminders from the pact. We won't chase debts, take sides or freeze anything, because none of it runs through us.

What is a pact?

The people, the split rules they all approved, and the record that follows: who paid, who owes, who's settled. A shared home, a trip, a loan between friends or a group gift. Pennypact records and calculates; it doesn't draft legal documents, settle disputes or give legal advice.

Do I need crypto to use this?

No. Checking records on-chain needs no wallet, token or gas from you; we pay for publishing. Pennypact has no coin. Paying with a stablecoin isn't part of the first release. If it ever is, it will be optional, and the record will say the network finalized the transfer rather than pretending a person confirmed it.

When can I actually use it?
